We are a friendly open water swimming club based at Harthill Reservoir near Rotherham. Our aim is to provide a safe and happy environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities to enjoy the open water and experience swimming outdoors in a natural environment.

We swim every Saturday all year around. Come along and meet us at one of our sessions, have a cup of tea and talk to our members. Harthill reservoir has a track around it which offers a lovely walk around the first two lakes. There is some lovely countryside around us and wildlife including Kingfishers and Herons around the lake and Deer in the surrounding woodlands. Children can swim from age 9 and our venue is a great place for families.

Newcomers are welcome and our regular members are happy to swim along with you to make you feel at ease on your first swim. Swimming outdoors is exhilarating and there are many claims of health benefits.

Since 2012 over 1800 people have swum with us at YOS, ranging from Team GB athletes to leisure swimmers and families. Our winter swimmers have won medals at international ice swimming events including the British and European championships.

YOS is all about its members, it is you that makes it great. We are wholly dependent on the time and efforts of its volunteers to allow the club to function. Each swim session requires a team of people to ensure everything runs smoothly. There are lots of roles such as checking swimmers in and out, helping new members, providing safety cover, making tea's and coffee's and lots more.

New volunteers are always made welcome, whatever your skills and abilities we will do our best to make use them! In return for their time and efforts we provide full training, refreshments and free swims in return.
