YOS Most Excuses for Not Getting in the Water – Leon Fryer
There could only be one winner for this award. Despite his protests that he has swam the channel twice this year, this award is for the range and creativity of excuses given for not getting in the water at Harthill.
YOS Safety Team Award 2015 – Dan Marriott
Dan is not a swimmer yet he turns up regularly to man the safety boat and make sure that we all have a safe and happy swim. He shows true dedication to the club and we are so grateful so have him on the team.
YOS Volunteer of the Year 2015 – Sally Buck
Despite an injury meaning she could not swim for many weeks throughout this summer, Sally has continually turned up every week to volunteer on entry /exit, helping and advising swimmers and making sure everyone is safe.
YOS Top Female Swimmer 2015 – Wendy Figures
Wendy is a true star and has had many achievements this year including coming third in the BLDSA Two Way Windermere Championships.

YOS Best Baker 2015 – Marie Leedham
We’ve got many members who consistently provide beautiful cakes at almost every swim. We’ve raised loads of money for several charities this year as well as extra funds for the club which all helps to pay for things like these awards. A Massive Thank You to everyone who has baked cakes, buns, muffins, cookies, flapjack, biscuits and more this year. The cake that topped it for Marie this year was her Ferrero Rocher Cake (it happens to be someone’s favourite on the committee!)

YOS King of Shivers: Roger Walters
Shortlist: Simon Stoker, Cery Thomas, Phil Leedham

Yes, I’ll do a Triathlon next year.
Shortlist: “Where’s the finish?”, “Yes the fish are in there!” and “I’ll tell you how to swim faster if you eat my special porridge”

We all know that open water swimming can be daunting but this award goes to Martyn for his extreme determination to succeed throughout his time as a YOS member. He is an inspiration to us all.
